At BID, our management team is committed to investing in our employees. In turn, our employees work hard to ensure customer satisfaction and the ongoing integrity of our business partnerships. With this approach, the BID Group is consistently attracting and adding the best trades people, engineers, project managers and office staff to our growing team.

Diversity. Mobility. Opportunity.

At BID, we provide a unique environment for employees to gain experience outside of their core trade and leverage those skills for upward mobility in their careers.

As a multi-divisional operation, BID tradespeople often work for more than just one company or site location. Our complex and challenging projects also offer the opportunity for skillset diversification.

With many projects on the go in many different regions, BID offers subsidized travel from the employees’ home base and competitive living-out allowances.

We believe a solid apprenticeship program is critical to maintaining our high standards for quality. We are proud to have graduated over 200 tradesmen through apprenticeship programs in carpentry, millwrighting, welding, machining and fabricating.

We offer employee and management benefits, a safety-first attitude, and a management team that encourages professional development. If you enjoy working at a fast pace, appreciate a dynamic working environment, and are professional in your customer and co-worker relationships, we want to hear from you!

Meet the Employees of BID Group

Employee Profile

Name: Joe Laquerre
Division: NCL Engineering, Prince George
Position: Technologist/ Lead Project Designer (AScT)

Joe has been working for the BID Group as a Technologist (AScT) since 2010. Primarily, Joe does drafting, design and project management for BID’s mill construction and modernization projects. His recent projects include sites in the Kootenays (BC), Fort St. John (BC) and Grande Prairie (AB). Joe graduated from the Engineering Graphics and Design Program, in Building Technology at CNC and now has over 15 years of experience in his profession.

“Joe joined our team just as we were getting our busy engineering division off the ground,” says Leif Norrgard, Chief Engineer. “His skill set helped us to hit the ground running and he was instrumental establishing the CAD standards and drawing procedures that we use today.”

When asked about his line of work, Joe says “I like being able to see and touch the end result of the things I am helping to design and build. At BID, in particular, I love the variety and pace of our projects – whether I’m doing design in steel or concrete, or project managing deliveries and deadlines, every day I’m challenged and I’m learning something new.”

When asked if he would recommend becoming a Technologist to others considering it as a career he said, “You definitely have to like the challenge of multitasking and problem solving, but ultimately it’s a great career choice because the skills are transferable to pretty much any firm needing drafting and design work.”
