With over 30 years of experience in industrial fabrication and construction, Brian Fehr leads the BID Group’s strategic expansion and corporate vision. Through his direct involvement in project management and customer relations, he has helped to establish the BID Group as a premier design, manufacturing, construction and project management organization.

Alistair Cook

President and Chief Executive Officer

Alistair became Chief Executive Officer after a 23-year career with Canadian Forest Products Ltd., where he served as Senior Vice President of Operations in Canada, before joining the BID Group. Alistair’s extensive experience in the forest products sector places him in an ideal position to lead the BID Group as an industry leader in providing customer solutions for a rapidly changing, technology driven industry. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Michigan Technological University.

Simon Potvin

Executive Vice-President – Wood Products

Simon has served as the BID Group’s Executive Vice President of Wood Products since 2012 after ending his more than 20-year career with Comact Equipment Inc. Based out of St. Georges de Beauce, Quebec, Mr. Potvin’s breadth of experience places him in an ideal position to manage our estimation, project management, engineering, manufacturing, controls and automation, optimization, procurement, product line management, and research and development divisions. He is a member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec and has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from Université Laval.

Doug Warstler

Chief Financial Officer

Doug is responsible for the Finance, Information Technology and Strategic Sourcing functions of the company. Doug’s 35+ year career includes CFO roles based out of the US South and included a 15 year career with New South/Canfor where he was the CFO and eventually the President of the US South Operations. Doug started his career with Price Waterhouse Coopers in Charlotte, NC where he spent 11 years. Doug has extensive experience and knowledge of the sawmill industry. He is a graduate of Wake Forest University.

Chris Wells

Senior Vice-President, Customer Sales and Service

Chris is a seasoned result driven leader with over 25 years of industry related experience in Service, Product Management, Research and Development, Customer Loyalty, and Aftermarket Sales. Chris transitioned to SVP Service & Sales as the company fortified its commitment to long term support and responsiveness to our highly valued customers. Having relocated to the US South in 2016, Chris continues to leverage his hands-on knowledge of technology based sawmilling practices in building world class teams and solutions to meet and exceed our customer’s needs.

Brian Runacres

Senior Vice-President, Construction

Brian has been involved in the wood industry for 32 years. 20 of those years were in an operational environment, handling maintenance and project functions for companies in the Interior and on the coast of British Columbia. For the last 12 years, he has been involved in BID Group’s growing ability to support the turnkey process and he will continue development of the Project Management and Construction corner of the business.

Travis McDonald

Senior Vice-President, US Construction-Turnkey

Travis has recently joined the BID Group. He previously was with Canadian Forest Products and has spent his entire 25-year career in the lumber industry. He held progressive senior roles within Canadian Forest Products including Director of Strategic Capital US. Travis has broad and deep experience in design engineering and capital program management with a proven track record of initiating, designing and executing large technical projects. Travis is responsible for leading the Turnkey experience with our highly valued customers. Travis is a graduate of the University of Arkansas in Mechanical Engineering and earned a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from Villanova.

Steven Hofer

Senior Vice-President of Operations, West

Steven joined the BID Group in October 2017 as Vice-President of Operations – West, and was appointed Senior Vice-President of Operations in June 2018. Steven’s responsibility includes BID’s portfolio of brands that include Deltech, MoCo Engineering, Miller Manufacturing and Vibra-Pro. He has 23 years of industry experience including Senior Executive roles in Manufacturing and Sales & Marketing, most recently with Interfor Corporation. Steven holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Asian Studies and Economics from the University of Victoria and completed his Executive Education at the University of Chicago.

Fred Spinola

Senior Vice-President, Energy and Business Development

Fred joined the BID Group in 2009. Fred has over 34 years of management experience in the areas of Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Development and Project Execution with a solid engineering education completed in South Africa. Fred holds a Bachelor of Science, a Higher National Diploma, and a Diploma in Manufacturing Management. He brings a diverse background ranging from Wood Products to Mining, Pulp & Paper, and Oil & Gas industries in the geographical areas of Canada, USA, South Africa, Australia, China and Korea.
