Nechako Construction has been working at Canfor’s sawmill in Fort St John building a wood waste extraction system. The project separates wood waste into hog and white wood fuel. Hog fuel is generally used in co-generation type applications. White wood is a common material used in the manufacture of pellets and other wood products. White wood is also used as a fuel supply for pile burners that generate clean heat / energy for specific applications.

The upgraded wood waste system will enable Canfor’s Fort St John plant to benefit from the sale of white wood waste and hog fuel as two distinct products. Conveyors to extract white wood and hog fuel, and the bins to hold product for shipping, were manufactured in Vanderhoof BC at our Nechako Mechanical facility. Nechako Construction has handled all on-site installation and project management.
